#15 Residency in Georgia

The past week has been incredibly packed with new meetings, unexpected events, rehearsals for two performances, trips outside of Tbilisi, new smells, colors and inspiration from all sorts of places. He particularly delighted me with how proud Georgians are of their culture. How industrious and visionary both the current mature generation and the youngest can be. With what enthusiasm they are able to present complex choreographies. How the past here discusses with the present and creates a unique hybrid. The youngest alumni of the schools and participants of the additional dance courses we observed during the Georgian dance shows are characterized by incredible energy, prowess, talent, intense presence, some strange kind of prowess and vitality. I was extremely pleased that a dance reserved exclusively for boys was performed for us by a group of wonderful girls and women. 

It's an image to which, among all the others, I will return with my memory for a long time

გასული კვირა წარმოუდგენლად დატვირთული იყო ახალი შეხვედრებით, მოულოდნელი მოვლენებით, ორი სპექტაკლის რეპეტიციებით, მოგზაურობით თბილისის გარეთ, ახალი სურნელებით, ფერებითა და შთაგონებით სხვადასხვა ადგილიდან. მან განსაკუთრებით გამახარა იმით, თუ რამდენად ამაყობენ ქართველები თავიანთი კულტურით. როგორი შრომისმოყვარე და ხედვა შეიძლება იყოს როგორც ამჟამინდელი მოწიფული თაობა, ასევე ყველაზე ახალგაზრდა. რა ენთუზიაზმით ახერხებენ რთული ქორეოგრაფიების წარმოჩენას. როგორ განიხილავს წარსული აქ აწმყოსთან და ქმნის უნიკალურ ჰიბრიდს. სკოლების ყველაზე ახალგაზრდა კურსდამთავრებულები და დამატებითი ცეკვის კურსების მონაწილეები, რომლებსაც ქართული ცეკვის შოუების დროს დავაკვირდით, გამოირჩევიან წარმოუდგენელი ენერგიით, ოსტატობით, ნიჭით, ინტენსიური ყოფნით, რაღაც უცნაური ოსტატობითა და სიცოცხლისუნარიანობით. ძალიან გამიხარდა, რომ ცეკვა, რომელიც მხოლოდ ბიჭებისთვის იყო განკუთვნილი, ჩვენთვის შესანიშნავმა გოგონებისა და ქალების ჯგუფმა შეასრულა.

#127 Final presentations in Poland

Re-connecting in final residency in Warsaw It was a great opportunity for me to be a part of dance residency EU Project "Dancing together again" and to connect to other colleagues from participating countries, first in Napoli, then finally meeting all colleagues in Warsaw who have participated in previous residencies in Tbilisi, Rijeka and Napoli. I am very grateful to be able to participate in this project as the residencies were a rare opportunity for me to be able to focus only on dance artistic process, without needing to take care of other everyday duties. The weather in Warsaw was much cooler than in my hometown Zagreb during summer, which I really liked. However, this time it affected me in such a way that after the first few days of residency I got sick with a high fever and was forced to spend a few days in my room before I recovered. “In the second half of August at squares and house-yards of Powisle appears the “Puppets by barricade” — a puppet show picturing the reality in a comic manner and bringing joy to inhabitants or the district and to the insurgents”. “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light” - Dumbledore said.
