#55 Residency in Croatia

The third week of DTA Residency was the final week of our stay in Rijeka, Croatia. During the last week we had the most intensive rehearsals in studios and for 2 days had a chance to have technical rehearsals at the venue “HKD” itself during the TranziT Festival. The presentations took two days and two spaces, exhibition space and the main stage of the theater. Technicians were supportive and helpful, some of the participants had more needs at the stage and it was chaotic in the beginning  but all simplified their needs as possible and it all went smoothly. There were some timing problems but we collectively managed to face it wisely and calmly. In the end everything went amazingly well. We successfully completed two days of presentations. The audience was small but their energy and appreciation was felt by each participant, on the second day the audience increased and they were also very interactive to the works we showed and even took part in my experiment on the stage. On the se...

#54 Residency in Croatia

Week three had very mixed feelings for me. It looked like it was almost ending, though we had a lot of work to do and the tension of presenting the works would hit its maximum temperature, which it definitely did. At the end of the week, moving to the HKD stage changed the total picture of our work and the routine. It became more quiet, concentrated and in high spirits, while feeling the emotional sentiments inside of each artist, the feeling which silently spoke about the devotion and the pure desire of making, showing and transporting the best of each one’s creations, greet and please the audience, in a manner firstly imagined and worked for. So all of this took its well deserved place on the Friday and Saturday night’s shows. It draws all of us even closer, as a group, as members of one whole artistic project, a true team, supporting and literally helping one another in every little step of the detailing. It was truly an unbelievably warm period to have gone through, a very cherishe...

#53 Residency in Croatia

The first days we were worried about the luggage. Of course, the luggage arrived. The process of work made me forget everything. I am personally grateful to my Polish and Croatian colleagues (Kamil Wawrzuta, Jasna Čižmek Tarbuk). Their advice and ideas helped me to make my work. Very interesting works came out. Thank you for the invitation and the pleasant emotions.  By  Jakob “Jakomo Guruli” Gogotishvili   Prvih dana bili smo zabrinuti za prtljagu. Naravno, prtljaga je stigla. Proces rada natjerao me da sve zaboravim. Osobno sam zahvalan poljskim i hrvatskim kolegama (Kamil Wawrzuta, Jasna Čižmek Tarbuk).

#51 Residency in Croatia

Something old, something new, something borrowed… First week of residency is behind me. Upon my arrival we introduced ourselves, explained a little what we had on our mind and what we were expecting of this residency.  The good thing is that our group comes from diverse backgrounds, and everyone has a vast experience in different fields, so we offered to exchange and share our knowledge. For that, Žak led our first workshop which was a mixture of natural warm up authentic movement praxis and embodiment of whispered text, so we can become more familiar with each background and body movement. That was something old but taught in a new refreshing way. The second day Alexandra led a nice class of her oven practice in which part of the whole body warm up consists of nonstop motion and fluent movement from the beginning to the end. Then we learned the basics of House dance practice from a contemporary dance approach led by Justyna which was new for me but also fun. It also gave me an ins...

#50 Residency in Croatia

„SUSTAINABILITY on the streets of Rijeka” I believe this photo speaks for itself… During the residency Dancing Together Again! In Rijeka I’m trying to get some new perspective about sustainability through the subject of being in relation. The relation with our own body at first as a source of any experience, the relation between „new” and „ old”, between nature and everything that comes from the human kind. How can we coexist in harmony, share common time and space? Talking about time…trees in a way always inspire me to reflect about time. They take time to grow and last. Time also seems to be one the most precious „resources” for all of us. We embody time. We create the space with time. How do we manage this process? Do we take time to stop? To simply be? What is the relation between doing and being? And finally, how do we move between these two states so we could live and grow sustainably? From my personal experience: this week I twisted my ankle. That shaped my participation in the ...

#49 Residency in Croatia

Our business entered a more active phase. The process is tiring but interesting. Of my bad English, I have the feeling that I am going uphill all the time. Despite this, I feel good. I try to be an organic part of the residence.  By  Jakob “Jakomo Guruli” Gogotishvili Naše poslovanje je ušlo u aktivniju fazu.

#47 Residency in Croatia

This week has been an overwhelming one, though it was expected. We had been thinking, talking and trying to get everything done in the most appropriate way. That is a challenge always, demanding physically, mentally and it all is full of many different tasks, which you need to work on for short periods of time, with a lot of informational volcanoes in your brain. All of this is a great way of examination of one’s self in total. The dancing process, together with the creating process, is one of a kind. It is miraculous, precious and cherished, therefore no obstacle comes in front of such amazing ways of living and working. This is exactly what we strive to and for.

#46 Residency in Croatia

The second week of DTA Residency turned out to be full of intensive rehearsals and so will be the third week as we are approaching the presentation day. We work hard to develop our ideas and concepts and put them in digital or physical forms. For me personally, this part is the most interesting part of the residency, as we start working with other artists, learn from each other, observe different artistic approaches and teach each other new skills, materials.  I appreciate that we have to present our work in process and not the final product. It would be nearly impossible and would cause stress and chaos.  In that case we would be more oriented on the final product rather than to explore, try collaborations, listen to each other, develop ideas and build powerful artistic connections.  I think this residency gives an amazing opportunity to try new things and connect to various artists and cultures in different ways. Therefore when I was asked, I  decided to participat...

#45 Residency in Croatia

The residency in Rijeka has started. We are in the process of building a new sustainable ecosystem for all of us. Looking for the sensation of sustainability. „ In between”. In a relation between human to human, human to nature… to everything what Rijeka means for a little moment of this experience. We move, we taste, we explore, we create, we become. Through the artistic process we invite to the dialogue about how the next sustainable step into the future could look like. But first of all, preparation! In the practice of conscious movement we shake all the dust off and make some space in the body for the new possibilities to come! Natia, Xosilita, Jacob, Giulia, Claudia, Natasa, Jasna, Sellena, Justyna, Kamil, Žak, Aleksandra and Coco in a movie shot of Natasa 💚 Can’t wait for more!  By Aleksandra Konieczna Počela je rezidencija u Rijeci. U procesu smo izgradnje novog održivog ekosustava za sve nas. U potrazi za osjećajem održivosti. " Između". U odnosu čovjeka prema čovjek...

Sitting down, observing the city, feeling nature. Connecting with what surrounds me while getting inspired for new creations ❤️  By  Giulia Roversi Sjesti, promatrati grad, osjetiti prirodu.

#43 Residency in Croatia

I must mention: The dynamic of this city is amazing.  It tells you not to think about problems, relax and enjoy. I met colleagues with great experiences. We listened to ideas that should create our joint work. And I have a feeling that we are on a magical path.  By  Jakob “Jakomo Guruli” Gogotishvili Moram napomenuti: Dinamika ovog grada je nevjerojatna.

#42 Residency in Croatia

Today, while visiting Pula, I saw the sculpture "Kneeling Slave". The astonishingly small figure of the slave, belittling its value considering the great remnant of the "Owner's" feet. The Roman Empire conquered these areas before our era. Pula is home to one of the three surviving amphitheaters. The monumentality of the executioner, trampling the victim. It's sad to admit that it was exactly this building that attracted me here. It's hard to imagine how much slave blood was shed there. There are wonderful places in the world that owe their splendor to crime, exploitation, theft, murder - probably the whole of Western Europe, now wanting to set standards and ethics, also in countries that it has exploited for hundreds of years. This debt will never be repaid. Each murdered slave represents entire cities of the future, generations of people who could not build the power of their countries. Sustainability in its imbalance. Power, politics, economics trampl...

The residency in Rijeka deals with the research of an important topic for the present of the human race.Proud and grateful to be part of it, as an researcher of Consciousness and movement, between beautiful interesting artists and explorers from different countries, fields and professional backgrounds. I'm also thankful for this opportunity to research among various languages where is visible that we in fact speak the same language coming from the body. The atmosphere is wonderful, we work a lot, I'm looking forward to our artistic outcome.
