#46 Residency in Croatia

The second week of DTA Residency turned out to be full of intensive rehearsals and so will be the third week as we are approaching the presentation day. We work hard to develop our ideas and concepts and put them in digital or physical forms. For me personally, this part is the most interesting part of the residency, as we start working with other artists, learn from each other, observe different artistic approaches and teach each other new skills, materials.  I appreciate that we have to present our work in process and not the final product. It would be nearly impossible and would cause stress and chaos.  In that case we would be more oriented on the final product rather than to explore, try collaborations, listen to each other, develop ideas and build powerful artistic connections.

I think this residency gives an amazing opportunity to try new things and connect to various artists and cultures in different ways. Therefore when I was asked, I  decided to participate in 2 works of different artists (authors), co-direct and perform in collaborative work and merge personal ideas of creation to other’s pieces. I mostly work alone and this approach will be the best outcome for my personal and artistic development and not only. I still will be able to continue my solo work on the subject,a concept that I developed during this residency and I believe this is what matters the most, what can we take from this period of time.

I would also love to add that we had meeting with partners from Italy, Poland and Georgia, went to check out presentation’s location HKD and also had some beautiful workshops including: Duet with the camera led by Sellena, 2 day movement workshop by Gabriella Stazio, workshop of observing our body weight & balance by Giulia and Claudia, stretching and partnering massage by Kamil. We also experienced “Aimless wandering” practice - trip to the woods by Melita Sorola Stanicic.

To sum up, it was an intensive and important week full of new experiences. On Sunday Justyna and I took a little boat trip from Opatija and enjoyed the last days of summer.

Stoga, kada su me pitali, odlučio sam sudjelovati u 2 rada različitih umjetnika (autora), surežirati i nastupati u zajedničkom radu i spojiti osobne ideje stvaranja s tuđim djelima.

Doživjeli smo i praksu “Besciljnog lutanja” - izlet u šumu Melite Sorole Staničić.

#112 Final presentations in Poland

DTA residency will stay for me as one of the unforgettable projects, the experience and impact it has left on me, will follow me for many years. Now let’s circle back and let me tell you all the details I find interesting within this final presentation's 10 days residency. Once we all arrived in Warsaw, Poland, we all together had a big meet up in the hotel to receive our accommodation keys and to get city transportation tickets, for us to make it easier to travel independently. Seeing our friends from previous residency was surprisingly overwhelming and we felt lucky & thankful that we met each other again within the project! The accommodation itself was really nice & clean, even though the space was small it was perfectly suitable for a solo traveler. Together with tickets we also have received vouchers from local stores to buy ourselves dinner products and vouchers for the local bakery downstairs, which was nice for breakfast/brunch options. After one day to rest and res...

#127 Final presentations in Poland

Re-connecting in final residency in Warsaw It was a great opportunity for me to be a part of dance residency EU Project "Dancing together again" and to connect to other colleagues from participating countries, first in Napoli, then finally meeting all colleagues in Warsaw who have participated in previous residencies in Tbilisi, Rijeka and Napoli. I am very grateful to be able to participate in this project as the residencies were a rare opportunity for me to be able to focus only on dance artistic process, without needing to take care of other everyday duties. The weather in Warsaw was much cooler than in my hometown Zagreb during summer, which I really liked. However, this time it affected me in such a way that after the first few days of residency I got sick with a high fever and was forced to spend a few days in my room before I recovered. This unexpected situation allowed me enough space to process all the new information about first impressions of Warsaw residency on ...
