Dancing Together, Again! Creative Residencies Programme

The third week was a difficult week. Rehearsal of preparations for the show, stress, lack of time, tension. Thanks to the presence of good souls in the form of other dancers who showed support, workshops that reminded us what is most important and hard work, the final of the residency ended with great satisfaction. My etude was very positively received. It's amazing when an attempt to express something or raise an important topic turns out to be successful. There is nothing more important for an artist. The history of domination of one group over the other is an inherent topic that accompanies me during this residency. We artists are not free from it. Who has more "rights" to access space and who has less, and how do we explain it? Who is a dancer and who is not. Where there are more funds for culture, it can be said that there is greater professionalization. Where do these funds come from? Don't they result from years of domination and oppression of other countries, where funds for culture are still smaller? Do these artists, having fewer resources and more complicated artistic biographies, have less to say and worse skills just because they cannot afford well-paid schools and workshops? Doesn't struggling with limitations make their stories more interesting? And their means more unique. Maybe it's a matter of the message being conveyed? Maybe yes and maybe no. „reSOURCE” Residency in Rijeka came to an end. Just theoretically, because it’s still working strongly at some point. I challenged myself and let the process continue till the very very end. I let it have the last word right on the stage. That’s the beauty of the movement improvisation I was trying to share.  I based my research around SUSTAINABILITY on the subject of being in relation. Between me and my colleagues of residency, coordinator of the group, local community, architecture and natural environment of Rijeka. Finally, through the movement practice, in relation to my own body. All of these aspects guided me to refund the state of my inner sustainability. A new way of communication between body, mind and something we could call „ inner source of creation”. That allowed me to create in a different way that I used to do it so far. The third week of DTA Residency was the final week of our stay in Rijeka, Croatia. During the last week we had the most intensive rehearsals in studios and for 2 days had a chance to have technical rehearsals at the venue “HKD” itself during the TranziT Festival. The presentations took two days and two spaces, exhibition space and the main stage of the theater. Technicians were supportive and helpful, some of the participants had more needs at the stage and it was chaotic in the beginning  but all simplified their needs as possible and it all went smoothly. There were some timing problems but we collectively managed to face it wisely and calmly. In the end everything went amazingly well. We successfully completed two days of presentations. The audience was small but their energy and appreciation was felt by each participant, on the second day the audience increased and they were also very interactive to the works we showed and even took part in my experiment on the stage.
